Harimaze and Calligraphy - Charming design from a Meiji era harimaze or cutout series combining pictures with examples of calligraphy. Harimaze are woodblock prints featuring several images on one page, designed to be cut apart and pasted into albums or mounted to screens. Subjects include figures, nature scenes, and poems or verses. It is rare to find uncut harimaze pages. An interesting format with a nice variety of designs in a single print.
