Comments - Beautiful triptych of beauties enjoying a spring day in the Yoshiwara. At lower left a woman kneels beside a koto while the beauty behind her looks through a book with a woodblock print on the cover. In the center, a musician plays a kokyu, an instrument similar to a shamisen but played with a bow. A servant carries a large tray of delicacies and another woman holds a poem slip, while a third paints on a fan. At lower right, a courtesan looks up from her flower arranging, a cherry branch in her hand and an ornate vase on a low stand before her. The verandah looks out over a courtyard filled with blossoming cherry trees. Lovely color and detail in the elegant kimono and obi fabrics. A fantastic beauty subject, nicely embellished with delicate embossing in the white kimono collars. Would make a wonderful framed display.
