Comments - Terrific kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Gonjuro I in a dressing room looking at a curtain featuring kabuki portraits in circular insets. He stares down slight frown as if his thoughts are elsewhere. At lower right, a dressing stand holds a red lacquer mirror, and a wig rests on a stand at upper left. A fascinating look backstage at a kabuki theater, nicely detailed.
