Comments - Intriguing triptych depicting the wives of the fifteen Tokugawa shoguns admiring a large scroll featuring portraits of the shoguns themselves. The women are gathered in a palace room, which opens onto a beautiful garden with a waterfall at left. Each is wears the appropriate dress and hairstyle for her era, and is identified with a small yellow name cartouche. A fascinating subject with attractive color and detail.
