The Bravery of Horsemen Fighting One on One at Kagoshima, 1877

Comments - Fantastic image of two horsemen fighting one on one at Kagoshima. In the center, a rebel samurai holds his seat as his horse bucks, kicking its hind legs high. At left, an Imperial Army officer gallops directly at the rebel, leaping dead and dying samurai on the ground. Clouds of smoke billow across the background as troops in the center fire off a volley of shots. A dramatic battle scene from the Satsuma Rebellion. A rare Yoshitoshi triptych, which does not appear to have been recorded by Roger Keyes. A great subject for a Yoshitoshi collector.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/4"

Condition - Beautifully printed with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
