Original Edo era Japanese Woodblock Print
Wary Samurai, 1861

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a samurai standing in a doorway, looking over his shoulder with a wary frown, holding his sword between his hands. He wears a gray coat over a blue kimono and red under robe, his hair pulled back into a neat topknot. The figure is nicely set off against the deep blue background.
