Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of people playing hanetsuki, a game similar to badminton, in the street outside a teahouse. At right, the courtesan Kofuji of the Omiya smiles happily as she holds a battledore in one hand. leaning back slightly as if to look up to follow the shuttlecock, which can't be seen. In the center, Kincho's son Kinko waves his paddle above his head as the kamuro Midori watches him. Ebizako no Ju stands between the children, frowning as he looks at Kincho, who sits on a bench at left scratching his head in a puzzled manner. From left, the actors are Seki Sanjuro III, Bando Hikosaburo V as Iyami Kingoro, Ichimura Uzaemon XIII, Kawarazaki Gonjuro I, Ichimura Takematsu III, Seki Hanasuke IV as Maizuruya Denzo, and Onoe Kikugoro IV. An attractive design with expressive figures in an interesting setting.
