Horse Racing at Shinobazu Pond

Comments - Great scene of the Meiji Imperial court attending the horse races around Shinobazu Pond in Ueno Park. A festive atmosphere prevails with strings of colorful lanterns decorating the viewing pavilion and small toys descending from fireworks exploding in the sky. The toys include a Daruma doll, a carp, a geisha, and a man on horseback. The Emperor and his wife watch attentively as the riders make their way around the track. A lively scene with vivid color and fine detail.
