Sambaso Dancer

Series; An Array of Dancing Girls of the Present Day

Sambaso Dancer - Beautiful Utamaro woodblock of a young Sambaso dancer performing with a fan. The Sambaso is a ceremonial dance performed during Noh and kabuki plays. She wears the traditional tall striped hat, tied under her chin with a red cord. A striking design with beautiful burnished detail in the black hat. A terrific image, rarely seen in reprint. Would make a fantastic framed display.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 9 7/8" x 15"

Condition - Excellent with no issues to report.
