Yugao, Chapter 4: Yazama's Wife Orie - Lovely design of Orie, the young wife of Yazuma, walking through the snow, accompanied by a large dog. She carries a rolled up straw mat under her arm, pausing to look up at the sparrows fluttering about her head. She wears a black kimono tied with a purple obi that reverses to rust, and has a blue and white cloth wrapped around her head. Fluffy snowflakes fall gently against the beautifully shaded night sky. An attractive print with lightly embossed detail in the dog's fur and handsome wood grain impression. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A great image from this series.
