A Scene of Young Leaves in the Fresh Summer Breeze, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Beautiful scene of Prince Genji enjoying a summer visit to a lake. The prince sits on the verandah of a structure built out over the water on rustic wooden supports, holding a long slender pipe in his hand. He smiles at a beauty waiting in a boat tied to the railing as a young girl climbs the steps with a small lacquer box. Colorful yellow blossoms frame the view at bottom, with wisteria blossoms hanging overhead. Wonderful detail and a lovely natural setting. A charming subject with soft shading in the water and sky.
