Sakakibara Yasumasa and Toyotomi Hideyoshi on Mt. Komaki

Comments - Incredible image from the Battle of Komaki in 1584 of Sakakibara Yasumasa and Toyotomi Hideyoshi no horseback. In the center, Yasumasa charges down a slope at full speed as he chases his enemy. His personal standard flying from his back, he grasps his spear with both hands and stares straight ahead, focused on the confrontation ahead of him. Wearing a horned battle helmet, Hideyoshi races away at left, waving a baton above his head. Fantastic detail in the armor and weapons, and the saddle and stirrups, including touches of burnishing. A dynamic composition with a wonderful sense of movement. A great samurai subject.
