Zuigetsu Ikeda - One of the leading flower painters of his day, Zuigetsu Ikeda earned fame with his stunning "Villa Oyamazaki" series of 300 woodblock orchid prints commissioned by Japanese businessman Shotaro Koga in the 1940s. Known for his lovely painterly style, Zuigetsu's woodblock designs beautifully capture the nuances of the natural world in glorious detail. His works are characterized by a real richness and depth of color, featuring blossoms and buds from a close-up perspective. Original woodblocks by Zuigetsu are quite rare and have a strong following among collectors interested in floral prints. These beautiful works are a wonderful find and would make a fantastic addition to any modern print collection.
