Nakamura Fukusuke I as Hayano Kampei, 1859

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Nakamura Fukusuke I as the samurai Hayano Kampei in the play "Hana Ayame Iroha Jikki." He grimaces as he looks over his shoulder, holding a sword wrapped in red brocade cloth. He wears a violet kimono with a burnished geometric patter over a red under robe, his hair pulled back into a ponytail with a few loose wisps framing his face. At the back of the room, low sliding panels beneath a window feature yellow clouds and peony blossoms. An attractive design, nicely colored and detailed.

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details.
