Angry Beauty, 1861

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of a beauty leaning forward with an angry grimace, her chin thrust out and her hand flung open at her side. She appears rather disheveled with loose wisps of hair framing her face, the rest pulled back into a thick ponytail with strands falling over her chest. Her kimono features a striking pattern of tie-dyed stripes in blue and red. A nice expressive figure with fine line work in the hair, set off by a deep blue background.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. A few small holes, repaired. Please see photos for details.
