Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki)

Audience with a Daimyo, 1883 - Handsome scene of the young Toyotomi Hideyoshi paying a visit to a daimyo. He kneels respectfully before the nobleman, who scowls down at him from a platform. The warrior wears a beautiful red robe patterned with trailing vines over his armor, his hair pulled back into a short ponytail. The nobleman wears a voluminous deep purple robe and tall black court cap, a page kneeling at his side holding his sword. The purple robe has an elegant burnished scroll design, visible when the print is viewed at an angle. Wonderful detail in the fine palace setting and interior furnishings, with touches of burnishing in the black armor. An attractive design, vibrantly colored.
