Agemaki, Chapter 47: Sukeroku and Senbei - Terrific scene from the kabuki play "Sukeroku" showing Ichikawa Danjuro VIII in the lead role of Sukeroku, a young street knight who is actually one of the Soga Brothers in disguise. He tosses his opponent Senbei in the air with a stroke of his sword, sending the man flying head over heels under a blossoming cherry tree. A great dramatic image with fine shading in the dark night sky.
