Twilight Snow in the Sky over the River - Charming scene from a series comparing beauties with the classic Eight Views of landscape. Here, a beauty is interrupted while writing a letter by a young girl who bends over her, hugging her around the neck. The woman smiles affectionately, taking the child by the wrists. A brush and roll of paper rest on the floor next to a black lacquer writing set. The inset above shows a view of snow at twilight. A lovely design, rarely seen in reprint.
Beautifully carved and printed by the venerable Ishu-Kankokai of Tokyo, this charming reprint is very rare and a wonderful choice for a collector interested in classic Edo era beauty designs.
