Picture of the Lower Class

Series; Three Ranks of Young Women According to their Fashions

Picture of the Lower Class - Charming design of two beauties on a warm summer afternoon. The seated woman fans herself, the sleeves of her blue and white cotton robe pushed up in the heat. A bouquet of irises sits in a small pail of water nearby. Nicely detailed with flowing line work.

Beautifully carved and printed by the venerable Ishu-Kankokai of Tokyo, this charming reprint is very rare and a wonderful choice for a collector interested in classic Edo era beauty designs.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)
