Your Favorites on the Third Floor Looking at a Curtain, 1861

Comments - Terrific kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Gonjuro I in a dressing room looking at a curtain featuring kabuki portraits in circular insets. He stares down slight frown as if his thoughts are elsewhere. At lower right, a dressing stand holds a red lacquer mirror, and a wig rests on a stand at upper left. A fascinating look backstage at a kabuki theater, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. Small loss at corner, a couple wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
