Kumasaka Chohan Fighting Ushiwakamaru at an Inn, circa 1836

Comments - Lively scene of the fight between the robber Kumasaka Chohan and his gang of thieves against the young Ushiwakamaru at an inn at Akasaka Station. At right, the agile young boy leaps above his enemies, waving his sword as he slips out of his kimono, leaving his surprised attackers staring at the robe on the ground at left. The melee continues all around him with fighting in the courtyard. A great action scene with wonderfully expressive figures.
