Modern Building, 1888 - Nice view of a modern stone building in Tokyo, the upper story topped with a traditional roof ornament called a shachihoko, a fierce creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a carp. A couple enjoys the view from a second story balcony, watching the traffic in the street below, which includes pedestrians, a horse-drawn cart, and a rider on horseback. Wonderful architectural detail.
