Comments - Fantastic depiction of the Great Battle at the Sendaigawa (Sendai River) during the Kyushu Conquest, the fight to control the island of Kyushu. Troops on horseback ride across the deep river to reach the shore and engage the enemy. In the center, a warrior gallops along on a black horse, his fringed red personal standard fluttering above his head as water splashes up around his mount. The horse wears an incredible armored mask of a yellow dragon, complete with a mane of gray hair and antlers. Many of the other horses also wear red and yellow masks of fierce creatures with horns and manes, giving them a startling, frightening appearance. Colorful banners and standards wave overhead against the night sky as the men approach the shore with spears ready. A great image filled with energy, enhanced with lively color and wonderful detail in the armor and weapons. Beautiful bokashi shading on the water and sky. A great choice for a samurai enthusiast.
