Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty and Matron in an Interior, 1856

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a beauty and a matron in an interior. The beauty smiles happily as the older woman looks at her with a concerned expression, one hand resting on her shoulder as she kneels beside a lamp. The panels along the back of the room are decorated with woodblock prints, including a view of Mt. Fuji, bats in flight, and a fan with a blossoming plum tree. A bamboo fence runs across the courtyard at lower left. Nice expressive figures in a handsomely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few crease and wrinkles. Please see photos for details.
