Iwai Kumesaburo III as Both Osaku and Oroku, 1850

Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Osome Hisamatsu Ukina no Yomiuri" featuring Iwai Kumesaburo III in dual roles as the beauties Osaku and Oroku. The kneeling beauty looks up at her companion with a smile, a bottle dangling from a cord in her hand. The face of a baby peeps over her shoulder from beneath her outer robe. The other woman looks a little disheveled with loose hair framing her face. Nice expressive figures.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A couple tiny holes, repaired. Slight toning and creasing. Please see photos for details.
