One Hundred Famous Metropolitan Views - Published in 1860, "One Hundred Famous Metropolitan Views" features scenes in and around Kyoto by a variety of artists. The series is not well documented, but works by Yoshitoyo and Umekawa Tokyo are known. These charming designs include scenes throughout the year, from blossoming cherry trees in spring to colorful fall foliage in autumn. Many images depict temples and shrines. An interesting and unusual series, rarely seen.

Artist - Umekawa Tokyo (active circa mid-1850s - early 1860s)

Image Size - 9 1/8" x 6 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Stitching holes at one side, repaired. Some prints have slight soiling or a few marks. Please see photos for details.
