Ichikawa Ichizo as Shoji Shigetada, 1863

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Ichizo as the Genji general Shoji Shigetada, looking to the side with a worried frown as he holds a fan upright between his hands. He wears an intricately patterned vest over a blue kimono with a geometric pattern in the center, the Genji paulownia crest appear on his shoulders and sleeves. His hair is neatly pulled back into a topknot tied with a white cord. A nice large expressive figure, set off by the deep blue shaded background.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with somewhat stiff paper. Small hole, repaired with backing. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
