Ichikawa Shinsha as the Zen Nun Matsushita, 1863

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Shinsha as the Zen Buddhist nun Matsushita, looking over her shoulder with an eager smile, her eyebrows raised. She wears a white print mantle over a sheer black robe and red under robe, a fan in one hand and a string of prayer beads in the other. The large figure is nicely set off by the deep blue background. Detailed with an embossed pattern on the white kimono collar.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with somewhat stiff paper. Slight toning, soiling, and ink offsetting. Please see photos for details.
