The 47 Ronin, Act 9: Yuranosuke’s Country Retreat in Yamashina

Comments - Terrific scene from the famous tale of the 47 Ronin, the lovely young Konami and her mother, Tonase, surprised to discover that the traveling monk who has just arrived is actually Honzo in disguise, Konami's father and Tonase's husband. Konami has just been rejected as a bride for Rikiya because a bribe by Honzo allegedly led to Lord Hangan's death. In another room, Rikiya and Yuranosuke pore over a floor plan of Lord Morano's mansion, preparing for the night attack. Wonderful detail in the attractive setting, with burnishing in the black kimono and embossing in the white robe.
