Each print illustrates a chapter in Murasaki's beloved story with a scene from the life of Prince Genji, a nobleman of the Minamoto Clan. Beautifully drawn figures are accompanied by elegant furnishings, set against a background of subtle embossed patterns and clouds of confetti. Lovely detail in the sumptuous kimono fabrics and household items. A beautifully printed series dating from 1857 to 1861.
