The Precincts of Tenmangu Shrine at Kameido, 1853 - Fantastic perspective view of Tenmangu (Tenjin) Shrine at Kameido, with a series of bridges leading toward the towering shrine building. Visitors make their way over the gracefully arching wooden bridge in the foreground, just the back of the woman at left visible, which adds to the depth of the scene. Pine trees and stone lanterns flank the pathways through the centers of the islands surrounded by blue water. An incredible and unusual Hiroshige design. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
