Street Knights in Seven Lucky Gods Kimono

Comments - Fantastic kabuki triptych showing seven otokodate or street knights dressed in an impressive array of kimono featuring designs related to the Seven Lucky Gods. The commoner standing at far left wears a robe with a deer across the shoulder, a symbol of Jurojin, the God of Longevity and Wisdom. The seated man at center wears a kimono with large white rats crawling over the magic wooden mallet of Daikoku, the god of Wealth. The purple kimono on the man standing at the right has a large red snapper or sea bream over the shoulders, the symbol of Ebisu, the God of Good Fortune. A wonderful design with vivid color and an attractive simulated lacquer frame border.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 28" x 13 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Backed with old paper. A couple light ink marks. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
