Series; Thirty-six Selected Flowers in Full Bloom: Their Own Calligraphy
Hanamizu and Izutsu of the Inamoto-ro, 1869 - Charming scene of the courtesans Hanamizu and Izutsu of the Inamoto-ro on an evening stroll. The beauty at right wears a black obi with a striking image of a fierce dragon, and both women wear extremely tall black lacquer get clogs. A kamuro or child apprentice can be seen at right, with servants at left carrying a lantern and a black lacquer shamisen case. An attractive design from this rarely seen Yoshiiku series, which features examples of the beauties' calligraphy in the pink inset at upper right.
