Confrontation between Samurai, 1892

Comments - Lively kabuki scene of a confrontation between samurai, with a warrior on horseback at left raising an iron club above his head with an angry grimace as a general at right points a tasseled command baton at him accusingly. The fellow in the center flings his arm out at his side in alarm, gripping a spear in his other hand. At right, another samurai watches the men with a slight frown. Nice large expressive figures with fine detail in the armor, set off by a deep red background.
