Series; Intermediate Tokaido Stations and Views on the Narita Highway, 1919 First Edition
Intermediate Tokaido Stations and Views of the Narita Highway - This Hiroshige print comes from the first and only printing of the "Intermediate Tokaido Stations and Views of the Narita Highway" in 1919. Hiroshige created the designs for this set in 1834 - 1835, but they were never printed during his lifetime. In 1919, the S. Sakai publishing firm learned of the existence of the original drawings that were intended for Edo era release, and expertly produced the only edition of the series ever released.
These lovely designs explore some of the smaller and lesser-known but beautiful stations along the famous Tokaido Road and the Narita Highway. From dramatic waterfalls and calm bays to snow-covered temples and flowering plum trees, Hiroshige captures the scenic beauty of these areas in a variety of seasons and weather conditions. This is an extremely rare series and an excellent choice for a collector. Don't miss this opportunity to acquire a beautiful original Hiroshige print from this most unusual group.
