Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauties Raising Silkworms

Comments - Charming scene of beauties raising silkworms. In the foreground, three women are busy plucking cocoons from small branches and placing them in baskets. Above, a beauty feeds silkworms by scattering chopped mulberry leaves over a tray. At left, an alcove holds a scroll depicting the patron gods of sericulture, with an offering tray below piled with silkworm cocoons. Nicely detailed.
