Ono no Komachi

Series; A Pocket Mirror of Beauties- Six Immortal Poets of the Era

Ono no Komachi - Charming portrait of a woman anxiously biting a handkerchief. She looks down with a worried expression, twisting the cloth in her hand. Her blue outer kimono is patterned with white cherry blossoms, worn over a red under robe with a pink collar and tied with a green obi. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun with a large comb, decorative hairpins, and red ribbons. Lovely detail in the delicate eyelashes and hairline, with a few loose wisps of hair framing her face and neck. The rec5tangular inset at upper left is a pocket mirror attached to a cord. A classic Eisen beauty portrait from a rarely seen series pairing beauties with Japan's famous "Six Immortal Poets."
