Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of the warrior monk Musashibo Benkei frowning angrily at a young beauty. Under his arm he carries a cylindrical box used to hold the severed head of a samurai for identification. He wears a brown outer robe with a large Buddhist wheel on it over a green print kimono and red under robe, and a black court cap. The beauty tilts her head with a sly smile as she pulls up the collar of her blue kimono. Her long hair falls loosely over her shoulders, adorned with a red lacquer comb and large clusters of blue flowers. From left the actors are Sawamura Tanosuke and Kawarazaki Gonjuro. Nice large expressive figures with soft shading in the night sky.
