Imperial Hotel in Tokyo

From the Uchida Publisher Archives - We were fortunate to purchase a wonderful collection of 20th century prints directly from the archives of the Uchida Art Company of Kyoto. The classic 20th century prints offered in our auction from this collection are all first edition prints of various designs released by the Uchida company in the mid-20th century. These first edition prints are unusual to come by in a nice group as they were generally sold off as they were produced. This excellent collection was held back and recently sold from the Uchida archives. These prints are a nice opportunity to collect a lovely 20th century print, or perfect as reasonably priced gifts. Don't miss out on these prints, once they sell out, we won't have them again!

Comments - Handsome city scene of the famous Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Completed in 1923, the imposing structure was torn down in 1968, with only the central lobby wing and reflecting pool later reconstructed at the Meiji Mura Museum. The impressive stone hotel rises above a pond with a fountain in the center as two pedestrians walk along the street under a falling rain. Wonderful architectural detail in this urban landscape. A rare woodblock image of this landmark building.

Artist - Eiichi Kotozuka (1906 - 1979)

Image Size - 7 1/2" x 10" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
