Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of two men arguing over a sword, each grabbing hold of one end of the weapon. The kneeling Yazaemon grimaces with rage as he leans on one knee. Above him, Token Gonbei looks over his shoulder with angry expression, his brows furrowed. At right, Yohei watches with a slightly puzzled expression as he holds out a wicker container. A large paper lantern hangs from the eaves behind him, and in the room beyond a brazier with a demon's head rests on the floor next to a staircase. From left, the actors are Nakamura Tsuruzo, Bando Hikosaburo, and Kawarazaki Gonjuro. Nice expressive figures in a handsomely detailed setting.
