Horse Racing at Shinobazu, 1885

Comments - Terrific illustration of races at the Union Horse Racing Club's racetrack around Shinobazu Pond in Ueno Park. A festive atmosphere prevails with strings of red lanterns hanging from flagpoles, and small toys showering down from fireworks exploding in the sky. Boats flying colorful flags enjoy the view from the water. The box at right is crowded with visitors watching the horses rounding the curve below. A lively scene with handsome panoramic view of the race track.

Image Size - 14" x 28" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Three separate panels .A few small holes, repaired. Slight toning, a few marks, stains at corners. Please see photos for details.
