Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of an elder samurai holding a dirk in his hand, soberly displaying it to tow younger warriors. He looks at them with a frown, his brows furrowed and his thinning gray hair pulled back into a slender topknot. The man in the center scowls back at him angrily, his hands resting on his lap. He wears a dotted gray kamishimo over a black kimono with a beautiful burnished geometric pattern. The fellow at left leans forward with a tight-lipped frown. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Kodanji, Onoe Kikugoro, and Ichikawa Danjuro. Nice expressive figures set off by a soft yellow background, focusing all attention on the actors. Beautifully detailed with additional burnishing in the black kimono at left and the black vest at right.
