Fashionable Geisha in Yanagibashi, 1889 by Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Original Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Japanese Woodblock Print
Fashionable Geisha in Yanagibashi, 1889

Comments - Charming scene of beauties dancing, accompanied by women playing the shamisen at lower left. In the center, a beauty in a black floral kimono strikes a graceful pose with her fan extended while the woman behind her lifts her fan high. At right, a girl chats with a beauty adjusting a hairpin. The room features a verandah that overlooks a view of the water with a bridge crowded with pedestrians crossing the river. Lovely detail in the elegant kimono and obi fabrics and the interior setting. An attractive, rarely seen Chikanobu triptych. A beautiful clean, crisp print.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight toning. Please see photos for details. Very nice condition overall.
