Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the female thief Hitomaru Oroku and a samurai confronting a man sprawling on the floor. The man looks up at the warrior with a worried frown as he clutches a sword wrapped in fabric to his chest, a petition tucked into the front of his robe. He uses his foot to push away the cased sword of the samurai, who wears a striking kimono patterned with two-tailed foxes, red bolts of lightning, and swirling storm clouds. At left, Oroku watches with a grin, carrying a sword in one hand. Her dark gray kimono features eerie skeletons, worn over a red under robe and tied with a yellow floral obi. The room opens onto a view of the sea, and the panels on either side are decorated with lotus blossoms and leaves. An intriguing image, nicely detailed.
