Onoe Kikugoro as a Samurai Deflecting a Bullet with His Sword, 1876

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Onoe Kikugoro as a samurai in battle, deflecting a bullet with his sword. He wears a striking red vest patterned with a winged dragon over a suit of armor, a white sash tied around his forehead. Fighting continues in the background with figures in dark silhouette against the night sky. A terrific design, beautifully detailed, with fine bokashi shading in the background.

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + left margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few small holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
