The Second of the Line: Lord Hidetada (Daitoku-in) - Handsome scene from the life of Lord Hidetada, the second Tokugawa shogun, who was fleeing by water following the Battle of Osaka Castle. On the bank at upper right, the warrior Sanada Daisuke follows on horseback in hot pursuit. He stands in the saddle, gesturing angrily as his enemy escapes. Fighting continues in the background with two samurai tumbling over the shore at center left, and clouds of smoke billowing across the night sky. Detailed with faint embossing on the egret's feathers and fine bokashi shading in the smoke and sky.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
