Comments - Great depiction of the 16th century Battle of Shizugatake between Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the supporters of Oda Nobunaga. After a forced march, Hideyoshi and his men arrived to mount a surprise attack on General Sakuma Morimasa, who had attacked Hideyoshi's forts at Shizugatake. At right, two men on horses cross their spears as they approach each other. Just behind them a rider has knocked an enemy from his mount. At bottom center, a samurai faces a group of warriors, gripping his sword above his head with both hands. At left, a ride on a dappled horse plunges over the side of a cliff. Two castles can be seen in the distances, along with the banners of additional troops arriving. A lively design.
