Great Battle between Kai and Echigo Provinces, 1857

Comments - Handsome triptych illustrating a battle between the forces of Takeda Shingen of Kai Province and Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo Province. Warriors on horseback clash with swords and spears in the center, as archers fired arrows while riding. At left, Shingen watches from astride a dappled horse, wearing a helmet topped with a horned demon and flowing white wig. At right, Kenshin surveys the fighting from a dappled horse, a monk's cowl wrapped around his head. Each general is surrounded by retainers, each samurai wearing a personal standard above his back. Nicely detailed and colored, with an attractive natural setting with pine trees and mountains in the distance.

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few holes and small losses at edges, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few stains. Please see photos for details.
