Kashima Dance by Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Utamaro (1750 - 1806) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Kashima Dance

Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - A lovely Utamaro design and a very unique early subject by the artist. This image shows two women performing a Kashima dance in matching costume. Clearly an early design by Utamaro, as his style is clearly still developing. An excellent choice for a collector.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 15 1/2" x 10 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Excellent overall with no issues to report.
