Original Kaiseki (1882 - 1966) Japanese Woodblock Print
Mt. Fuji from the Fuji Sengen Shrine

Series; Twenty-five Views of Mt. Fuji, 1931

Twenty-Five Views of Mt. Fuji - Jokata Kaiseki's series "Twenty-five Views of Mt. Fuji" depicts Japan's sacred mountain throughout the year from viewpoints both near and far. These beautiful landscape prints have a lovely painterly appearance with wonderful detail. Many include figures such as farmers working in the fields or people visiting shrines, adding to the sense that Mt. Fuji is a constant presence in daily life. The series was self-published by Kaiseki in 1931 under the name Kaiseki Print Publication Society. Not much is known about the artist, and few works outside this series are presently known. These woodblocks were printed without margins and mounted along the top edge to heavy paper folders with the title in English and Japanese. A rarely seen shin-hanga landscape series and a great choice for a collector.

This presentation - This print comes loose in the original heavy paper presentation folder with printed title. Most often the accompanying folder has been lost, so this is a nice opportunity to acquire one of these terrific designs in the format as originally published.

Artist - Kaiseki (1882 - 1966)

Image Size - Image 10 5/8" x 14"; folder 13 3/8" x 17 3/8"

Condition - Beautifully printed with excellent color and detail as shown. Print is loose within folder. A couple prints have a small spot or two. Please see photos for details. Generally in very nice condition overall.
